One of my favorite animals

Blue Bird

The Blue Bird. The scientific name is Rhea. One of the reasons I picked this bird is because of the scientific name, the color, and how it lives its life. This birds habitat is in New York and Massachusetts. It is also the state bird of those states. The Blue Bird, eats fruits and berries in the Spring and Summer and also eats insects during Fall and Winter.  Bluebirds will also eat raisins soaked in water. The Bluebird is in the middle of the food chain. Where it eats a frog and a hawk eats the bird. The height of the bird is somewhere from 6.3 to 7.9 inches. This bird is known for being very friendly and kind. This is why  it can get along so well with other animals.  It spend most of its time being out into the open with other Bluebirds.. There are three species of these colorful North American birds. Eastern and western bluebirds have a reddish brown front, which contrasts with their bright blue. The colors of the west bluebird are blue and rose beige. Their relative, the (male) mountain bluebird is entirely blue. Female birds are less brightly colored than males, although color patterns are similar and there is no noticeable difference in size between the two genders. Bluebirds are territorial and prefer open grassland with scattered trees. Predators of young bluebirds in the nests can include snakes, cats and raccoons.

Of all the birds a gardener could choose to attract, the bluebird is the quintessential helpful garden bird. Gardeners go to extreme lengths to attract and keep them in the garden for their advantageous properties. Bluebirds are voracious insect consumers, quickly ridding a garden of insect pests.”  -Wikipedia

The Outer Banks!

The Outer Banks is a series of barrier islands that jut out off the coast of North Carolina. A collection of sand bars, really. From north to south: Northern Beaches, Roanoke Island & Dare Mainland and Hatteras. These islands, now connected by a series of bridges, each have their own history, geographical features and culture creating three different and exciting vacation spots. The Northern Beaches is filled with towns loaded with shopping, restaurants, plenty of beach space and activity.

And with names you probably recognize – Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk to name a few. Roanoke Island is quieter, quaint and pedestrian friendly with a deep history dating back to the first English colony. Hatteras is even quieter still, with vast stretches of land devoted to sand dunes and sea oats. It feels a world away, relaxed for travelers looking for a little solitude.

A Story, with a New Prompt

Hi! This story is inspired by a writing prompt supplied by Cooper in Mrs. Donofrio’s class. After you read my tale of terror kindly leave me a comment and tell me what you thought. Then, stop over Cooper’s Blog and check out what Cooper’s writing about. This was Coopers writing prompt:

I just walked into my house and heard a scream.  I ran upstairs and saw…

I just walked into my house and heard a scream.  I ran upstairs and saw a monster the size of a skyscraper. Nah, I’m just kidding. It was my annoying brother doing something in his room. But I am not sure were the scream came from. I went all around searching the house, but couldn’t find anything. I went back upstairs and try to tell my brother that something or someone screamed in the house.

He said ¨It’s probably just your imagination.¨

Then he shut the door. I still continued to look when I heard the scream again. But this time it was louder and longer. And I think it was coming from the basement. I slowly started walking to the basement. And there I started to open the door. “Ring, ring, ring.” I woke up with crusty eyes and bed head. Was it a dream I thought?

Madison Small

I’m very sorry to the family who lost their lovely daughter, Madison. She was a student at Broad Run. She was the one special girl who would love football. But then one day, something happened. At first she said, she was having a headache on Monday morning. None of the teachers listened to her. A couple days before that, she arrived back home from the Bahamas. A couple hours passed by in school when she ended up in the hospital. No one knows what happened, or how it happened. But people are started to guess that its unexpected bacterial infection she got from the Bahamas when she went swimming in the lakes. Then the tragedy happened. She died sadly on April 10, 2015.

My Nature Poem

This sunshine poem was inspired by Langston Hughes Never Poem.

Fim de dia...

The Sunshine

As is seeks through the trees

It is upon us

as I seek

The light it makes

The different colors

How I really understand

The Sunshine

How it wakes you up

With the hellos

How it send you to bed

with the goodbyes

Let the rain hug you

When you are feeling sad

Let it kiss you

When you are feeling good

You brought the sunshine

When there was some rain

You brought the rainbow

When there were some clouds

Board Games?

Hmmmm…….. I have decided to pick Monopoly as the board game for question #1 on the Student Blogging Challenge. Because since I was 5, Monopoly was always been my favorite game. When was monopoly invented? It was invented in 1933, but they are not sure about the month or the date. Where was Monopoly invented? It was invented in New York City. Why was Monopoly invented? This special board game was invented for kids that had a hard time getting through life. I hope these fun facts helped you learn something about one of my favorite board games.
