The Blue Bird. The scientific name is Rhea. One of the reasons I picked this bird is because of the scientific name, the color, and how it lives its life. This birds habitat is in New York and Massachusetts. It is also the state bird of those states. The Blue Bird, eats fruits and berries in the Spring and Summer and also eats insects during Fall and Winter. Bluebirds will also eat raisins soaked in water. The Bluebird is in the middle of the food chain. Where it eats a frog and a hawk eats the bird. The height of the bird is somewhere from 6.3 to 7.9 inches. This bird is known for being very friendly and kind. This is why it can get along so well with other animals. It spend most of its time being out into the open with other Bluebirds.. There are three species of these colorful North American birds. Eastern and western bluebirds have a reddish brown front, which contrasts with their bright blue. The colors of the west bluebird are blue and rose beige. Their relative, the (male) mountain bluebird is entirely blue. Female birds are less brightly colored than males, although color patterns are similar and there is no noticeable difference in size between the two genders. Bluebirds are territorial and prefer open grassland with scattered trees. Predators of young bluebirds in the nests can include snakes, cats and raccoons.
“Of all the birds a gardener could choose to attract, the bluebird is the quintessential helpful garden bird. Gardeners go to extreme lengths to attract and keep them in the garden for their advantageous properties. Bluebirds are voracious insect consumers, quickly ridding a garden of insect pests.” -Wikipedia
